About Brahmatal

Brahmatal trek’s historical significance is believed that when Lord Brahma was writing holy scriptures, ‘The Vedas’ in the meadows, he needed pristine water to turn the pages. So, he created the Brahmatal Lake. That’s how the name “Brahmatal” came to be—meaning “Brahma’s Lake.” This trek has attracted many adventurers and spiritual seekers over the years because of its breathtaking scenery and peaceful aura.

Trek Itinerary

The journey of the Brahmatal trek starts from Lohajung. You can arrive at Lohajung by any means of convenience. Either you can go by public transport by bus or a shared cab, or by booking a private vehicle. We can also help you by providing direct cab service from Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar or any other preferred pickup destination to Lohajung at an affordable rate.

After the overnight stay at Lohajung, start the first day of the trek early towards Bekaltal. On your way, you will get to witness the mesmerising views of Mt Nanda Ghunti and walk through the luscious forest of Cedar, Fir and Oak trees. 

After trekking for about 4-5 hours, you'll arrive at the Bekaltal campsite. From there, it's just a short 15-20 minute walk to reach Bekaltal Lake. You can explore the lake and come back, as this is where you will be staying overnight.

Today, our trek leads us to the mesmerising Brahmatal Lake through lush forests and beautiful meadows which are also home to Himalayan Monal. After ascending to Jhandi Top, you will get breathtaking views of the Trishul and Nanda Ghunti peaks. Then after descending, you will reach Brahmatal Lake. Soak in the peace and serenity of the spot and set up the camps for overnight stay.

After breakfast, gear up for the ascent to Brahmatal Top. Wander through the challenging paths of Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar, surrounded by mountain ridges and valleys. Enjoy a 2.5-hour trek with stunning views of the Himalayan Ranges, including the nearby Mt. Trishul and Nandhaghunti. At the top, admire the beauty of the panoramic snow-covered Himalayas. Then, continue on the way back to the campsite at Daldum.

This will be the last day of your Brahmatal trek, bid farewell to Daldum as you embark on the 7-kilometre journey back to Lohajung, through the same path initially taken. Enjoy the last glimpses of the picturesque landscapes and serene forests before concluding your memorable trekking adventure in the Himalayas.
