Brahmatal Trek
Walk into a world where the Himalayas turn silver. The Brahmatal Trek takes you through whispering oak and rhododendron forests to a frozen alpine lake cradled beneath Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti — six days of snow, silence, and summits that make you forget everything else.
About Brahmatal Trek
Ideal for: First-time trekkers, winter trek lovers, and small groups of friends or family
There’s a reason the Brahmatal Trek is the trek Himalayan winters were made for. Named after Lord Brahma, the alpine lake at its heart lies frozen solid from December through March, ringed by snow-laden meadows that stretch out like a white carpet under the sun.
The trail begins at Lohajung — a quiet village that doubles as base camp for the legendary Roopkund trek — and winds through dense oak and rhododendron forests before opening up into wide, rolling bugyals (meadows). Along the way, you’ll pass Bekaltal, a second hidden lake few trekkers even know exists.
The real reward comes at the summit: a 360-degree wall of Himalayan giants — Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, and Nilkanth — rising straight out of the snow. It’s a moderate trek by grade, but the payoff is anything but ordinary.
Trail and snow conditions change quickly in winter. Please check with our team a few days before departure for the latest route and weather advisory.

Captured on real batchesDifficulty & Fitness Requirements
Brahmatal is graded Easy to Moderate, making it a great choice for first-time trekkers — but winter conditions mean a basic level of fitness goes a long way.
You should be comfortable walking 5–6 km at a stretch without excessive breathlessness. We recommend jogging or brisk walking for 20–30 minutes, 4–5 times a week, for at least 3 weeks before the trek.
You'll need to carry a daypack of 4–6 kg (water, snacks, personal essentials) if you're not opting for a porter/mule for your main backpack.
Suitable for trekkers aged 10 to 55. Trekkers outside this range can join with prior approval and a fitness certificate.
Best Time to Visit
December – February
Peak snow season. The lake is fully frozen, meadows are blanketed in white, and this is Brahmatal at its most iconic — also the coldest and most crowded window.
March – April
Snow begins to melt, rhododendrons bloom along the trail, and the paths are easier to walk — a great option if you'd rather avoid deep snow.
